Satoru Takamori

- My approach was not a superficial, temporary 'method,' but my very 'way of being' itself has transformed.
Reflecting on my own “way of being,” facing my clumsiness, it was a truly precious and luxurious 5 nights and 6 days.
To Zen Master Taigu and everyone at Fukugonji, I am sincerely grateful for welcoming me to the temple stay despite having so much to do. Thank you so much 🙏.
A month has passed since the temple stay, and I would like to share what I am currently feeling.
For me, this temple stay was a valuable time spent with the inner disciples and fellow participants, facing my clumsy and weak self.
By receiving direct guidance from the disciples and being blessed with wonderful fellow practitioners, I learned so much from each one of their ways of being.
It was an experience that cannot be simply described as “learning.” The Buddhist teachings, which had been in my mind for so long and stagnant, are now slowly, like drip coffee, sinking into my being. Even now, nearly a month later, I can feel it settling in my stomach (I am beginning to truly internalize it).
Through this experience, I have realized that my “way of being” itself has transformed, not by relying on superficial, makeshift “methods” on the outside, but by changing my inner self.
Additionally, every dish carefully prepared by the temple cook was delicious. The joy of the food surpassed unnecessary thoughts and fantasies—”Delicious!” was the predominant feeling! Temple cuisine… simply the best! ⭐︎
I would definitely love to participate again!
