- I am currently undergoing treatment for mental illness. Can I participate?
- The training monastery is a place where Buddhist teachings are practiced on the foundation of physical and mental harmony.
The rigorous environment—including zazen meditation, work practice, and disciplined daily life—while strengthening the body and mind, may also amplify mental instability.
Therefore, we regrettably cannot accept those currently undergoing treatment. We encourage you to first focus on stabilizing your physical and mental well-being, and once you have achieved stability, to then aspire to the path of training.
The Buddhist teachings never reject anyone, and we believe that the right connection will surely arise at the appropriate time.
- Can minors (under 18 years old) participate?
- The temple stay program at Busshin-shu is designed to place participants in a training monastery where they cultivate mind, technique, and body through disciplined living.
The environment is demanding and requires participants to approach it with appropriate awareness and responsibility.
Therefore, we respectfully ask that minors, whose physical and mental foundations are not yet fully developed, refrain from entering the monastery.
We look forward to the day when, after further growth, they may return to knock on our monastery gates with the resolve necessary to endure the training.
