- The time I spent at Fukugonji was a wonderful moment that I can't put into words.
I would like to thank Taigu Osho and all the apprentices for their kind hospitality over the past six days.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to those who support the temple stay at Fukugonji.
I have only just returned from my temple stay, but for some reason I already feel lonely. I think that is because my time at Fukugonji was so wonderful that I cannot put it into words.Starting with the morning chanting at the main hall early in the morning, the various tasks and workshops were a wonderful experience that allowed me to sense my body and become more aware of it.
It was difficult to have to remember unfamiliar manners and behavior one after another, but it was also a good opportunity to learn the state of my body.
At times I was depressed by the brutally honest feedbacks from the trainee monks, but I am nothing but grateful that they clearly pointed out my shortcomings.I also think that I gained some very good realizations from the talk about sound in particular.
I would like to continue to be conscious of the sounds I make when eating, walking, and handling things in order to keep my mind in order.
Perhaps due to the unfamiliar environment and nervousness, I became a little unwell halfway through, but all of the trainee monks were kind enough to support me and I was able to complete the whole thing.
At the end, the meal which was carefully and lovingly prepared, and the sunrise seen from the forest early in the morning were truly beautiful and will surely be unforgettable memories.
Thank you so much to Monk Taigu, Taizen, Daiyu, Shinryu, and Jodo for giving me this wonderful experience and opportunity.Prayer held in prayer.
