Voices of Temple Stay participants

I thought that temple stay was completely different from the general ascetic training that has the image of enduring penance

Thank you very much for your help over the past 6 days.

This was my first time participating with the aim of developing good habits, but thanks to everyone I had a relaxing and fulfilling time.
I’m really glad I took the plunge and participated.
I was also able to enjoy my time until the end, and I am deeply grateful to my friends, the monks who cared for me, and everyone involved for their guidance and consideration.

I thought that temple stay was completely different from the general image of ascetic practices that involve enduring penance.
Although it is my subjective opinion,
① Dialogue with your own body and mind
② Warm dialogue and interaction with people
I felt that the program was designed to be well-balanced so that through a variety of experiences centered around this, I was able to have fun and create the energy to move forward again. I also felt that the warm feelings of the people at the temple, who wish for the growth of Zen worshipers, were reflected there.

In addition, through dialogue with my friends and monks in training during the time of peace, I was able to discover new aspects of myself and my challenges, and I was able to get to know the hearts of the monks in training. I was unexpectedly happy and it still leaves an impression on me.

Of the things I learned at the temple, what I have incorporated into my daily life is to cherish the basics and live carefully.
Specifically, it means living a regular life, eating, cleaning, and remembering to be grateful and considerate towards various people and things.
If I’m not careful, it’s easy to take things for granted, so I’d like to keep this in mind every day.

Finally, I would like to pray for the continued development of Fukugonji Temple, which is everyone’s spiritual hometown, and for the health and success of everyone involved.

I would definitely like to participate in Temple Stay again.
