A very nice time of continuous learning and awareness

Dear Residents of Fukugonji Temple

Thank you very much for your kindness.
I would like to thank you all for your kindness and support during this brief period of five nights and six days, and despite the simple daily routine of ‘getting up’, ‘reading sutras’, ‘cleaning’, ‘doing the work’, ‘eating’, ‘sitting at night’ and ‘going to bed’, it was a wonderful time of continuous learning and realisation.

Changes in the way we live our lives.

– I realised that I am usually spending my time in a society with too much information and multitasking, so I am thinking about how to do things efficiently and without wasting time. I was able to realise that I was thinking about how to be efficient and how to avoid wasting time.
– I had no interest in food. I used to think that as long as I could eat, it was good enough, but I felt my mind and body appreciate the food at the temple. After doing the Samu chores, eating in a quiet place where you can concentrate on the taste of the ingredients is superb. It was not a longing for hunger, but a longing for the body and mind to rejoice and be healed.
– In the beginning, I assumed the kind of person each member was in the sangha (including all the inner disciples). However, as I lived with them, I realised that each one of them had many sides to them and that I shouldn’t judge them.

Future life

The purpose of my participation this time was not to change myself, but to level up. Through this Temple Stay, I realised that what I lacked was attentiveness. I want to be attentive to myself, to others and to things.

Last but not least, thank you very much for providing us with a wonderful space and time.
Yours sincerely
